Barrell - Seagrass
Fuck me this is good. Bought it as a little gift to myself after it won double gold at the World Spirits Competition.
Everything Barrell has touched for the past 3 years has been delicious. They've quickly become my favorite spirits company. They source whiskey from all over the place. Seagrass is rye whiskey sourced from Indiana, Tennessee, and Canada prior to being blended and aged in Martinique rum, Madeira, and apricot brandy barrels. It's bottled at a walloping cask strength of 59.92% ABV / ~120 proof and the bottle looks cool as shit.
It's lavish and lush and I love it.
Barrell - Seagrass
Rank: 9
Nose: Rum, molasses, wood, and candy. For a cask strength, you really don't get much of the ethanol unless you stick your nose right in it.
Taste: Clean as hell with honey and molasses in the front and woody with a bit of rye spice on the back end.
Body: Heavy and smooth. Fills the whole mouth. That's a good thing. Still struggling to find a way to say that that isn't creepy.
Finish: Lingers, but doesn't burn. I had my last sip ~2 minutes ago and can still taste it clearly.
---
Overall: It's honestly just so good. I want all of it.
